INTERACTIVE ART: MEMORY TRACES

The Concept

This project was a personal experiment in translating analog memories into a digital, interactive form. I took one week of my personal journal entries and redesigned them as a series of abstract graphics. The core idea was to explore how a static personal record could be re-processed and brought to life through simple interaction.

Technical Implementation

This was my first self-initiated project using p5.js to explore interactivity. I coded a system where the user's mouse creates a 'convex lens' effect, which magnifies and distorts the underlying graphic patterns. This simple interaction links the viewer's focus to the act of looking deeper into a memory.

Key Takeaways

The key takeaway from this exercise was realizing the creative potential in that act of translation itself—from personal, analog data to an interactive system. It was my first step in understanding how code could be used to add new layers of meaning to my own experiences. This simple project sparked my desire to find more ways to visualize the data of our inner lives.
